Document Requirements
Before collecting your vehicle you must provide the documents and information required for your hire. Requirements can vary according to your circumstances and our insurers' requirements, so follow any specific request we send you.
If you have already booked, use the declaration link in your booking confirmation or open the declaration service. If a document is still outstanding afterwards, use How to Upload Your Documents.
What documents do I normally need?
You will normally need your valid driving licence, one acceptable proof of address dated within 75 days before the hire, your payment card, a DVLA Check Code if requested, and additional photographic ID if requested.
Do I need to upload both sides of my driving licence?
Yes, where you are asked to upload your photocard licence, provide clear images of both the front and back so that the complete document can be checked.

Can I use an online statement or screenshot as proof of address?
Yes, provided it is one of the accepted document types and clearly shows the full document, your name, address, date and relevant account details. You may obscure transactions or balances so long as the information we need remains visible.
When do I need a DVLA Check Code?
We will always ask for a Check Code you must provide one before the hire can be completed. See our DVLA Check Code guide.

Can my driving licence count as the additional photo ID?
No, where we specifically request separate photographic ID, your driving licence does not count as that additional document.
Do I need to bring original documents when I collect the vehicle?
Yes. Bring your original photocard driving licence and any other original photographic ID we have asked you to present. Providing uploads in advance does not remove the need to bring required originals.
When must I provide my documents?
Complete your declaration and provide the required documents as soon as possible and no later than 4pm on the working day before your hire.
What file types can I upload?
Use .png, .jpg/.jpeg image files or PDF documents where the upload system accepts them.
How large should my upload be?
The maximum upload size is 4MB. Around 2MB is normally ideal. Very small files below about 0.5MB may not contain enough detail and may need to be supplied again.
How should I photograph a document?
Place it on a flat surface in good, even light; turn off flash; hold the camera directly above it; include all four corners; make sure the image is sharp; and check that nothing is cut off or obscured by glare.
Why was my document rejected?
Common reasons include blur, glare, reflections, missing edges, incomplete pages, an unacceptable document type, an out-of-date proof of address, or information being too small to read.
What if I cannot provide one of the documents during my declaration?
Complete as much of the declaration as possible and follow the on-screen option for missing documents. Supply the outstanding item as soon as possible through the document-upload route stated in your booking instructions.
