Cookie Policy

1. About this Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Alco Van Hire uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website at alcovanhire.co.uk.

We use essential technologies required for the website to operate and, where you give us permission, optional technologies such as analytics and third-party functionality.

Some features on our website are provided by third-party services. These services may use their own cookies, local storage or similar technologies when the relevant feature is enabled.

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They can be used to remember information about your visit, help websites function correctly, or provide information about how a website is used.

We also use browser local storage, which performs a similar function, to remember your cookie preferences.

3. How we use cookies and similar technologies

Essential technologies

Essential technologies are required for the website and its basic functions to operate. They cannot be disabled through our cookie preference tool.

Our cookie consent system stores your preference in your browser's local storage using:

alco_cookie_consent

This preference does not itself contain information such as your name or contact details. It records the choices you have made about optional technologies, including analytics and functional technologies.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to help us understand how visitors use our website, such as which pages are visited and how visitors interact with the site.

Google Analytics is only loaded by our website when you give permission for analytics.

When analytics is permitted, Google Analytics may set cookies including:

• _ga
• _ga_GK9S2ZR96P

These cookies help Google Analytics distinguish browsers and maintain information about visits and sessions.

Google Analytics 4 does not log or store individual IP addresses. Google may use an IP address temporarily to derive approximate geographic information before the address is discarded.

If you reject analytics, Google Analytics is not loaded by our website.

Functional technologies

Some website features rely on services supplied by third parties. Where our consent system classifies those services as optional functional technologies, they are only loaded after you give the relevant permission.

Google Maps

We use Google Maps to provide interactive maps and directions. Google Maps is only loaded where the relevant functional permission has been given.

When Google Maps is loaded, Google may use cookies, local storage or other browser technologies. These technologies are controlled by Google and may change over time.

4. Third-party booking system

Our vehicle booking system is provided by a separate third-party service operated through ProHire/SecureWebBookings.

The booking interface may be displayed within our website using an embedded frame and may also take you into pages operated by the booking-system provider as you progress through the booking process.

The booking provider may use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for its booking service to function.

These technologies are controlled by the third-party booking provider and are subject to its own privacy and cookie information.

5. Managing your preferences

When you first visit our website, you can choose whether to allow optional analytics and functional technologies.

You can:

• Accept all optional technologies.
• Reject optional technologies.
• Manage the available preferences individually.

You can change your preferences at any time using the Cookie Settings option on our website.

If you reject optional technologies, some features that rely on third-party services, such as interactive Google Maps, may not be available.

6. Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our website, the services we use or applicable legal requirements.

The date at the top of this policy shows when it was last updated.
